Wah

As everyone knows I have the messiest bedroom of probably anyone in the world.
In my defense it is not dirty, more cluttered. This can be attributed to my overflowing cupboards and draws with no room for half my clothes, so they are pretty much dumped in piles. There is also my ridiciculous shoe collection. More recently I have acquired a lot of textbooks, I have always had lots of textbooks, however in this Masters degree I have actually had to read them so they also line my room. After staying up for 30 hours doing the assignment from hell the past Sunday night I was actually sleeping with 5 textbooks in my bed each averaging 300 pages. No room for a man when you are doing my degree. I also have a large tub full of children's books, games, art supplies and a whole lotta of other teacher tools.
Add in my expansive DVD, magazine and make up collection and you get the picture. A complete squalor.

It's made me realize that I need to move out soon. Mainly to spread shit out.
With the money I have saved so far in my life and spent on holidays I would have had a down payment on an apartment, but can't compare that with memories of almost 20 countries explored.
I think around this time next year, hopefully I will have (fingers crossed) got up a bit of savings and a few casual days a week set up, so that I could find a place to live.

I think I need to live by myself at least once in my life, I am pretty independent so I think I'd manage. Sometimes I spend expansive amounts of time looking up New York real estate. It depresses me how you can get a decent sized apartment in NYC fir less than you would pay for a place in the Sydney city area.

But a girl can dream.

Ohhh shit

So I once again have fallen ill, which explains my lack of posts.

Starting to get my groove back, but for a good few days I was an absolute zombie.

I was going to bed before midnight and my imagination was completely dormant. Was such a bore.

I spent the last two days watching 30 Rock. Seeing so much of myself in Liz Lemon it was ridiculous.

I am now on the mend and have to get going on this assignment due Monday, but some of the medication I am on for my asthma is a steroid and it makes my hands shake uncontrollably so typing is such a hassle.

So to waste some time and make me feel better I succumbed and purchased a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Lana's. After having such success wearing my friends pair I thought why the hell not they were like 60% off. Why not.

I must have been a drag queen in a past life. It would explain my penchant for unreasonable heels and sequins!

This song makes me nervous.

I can't explain it, makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time.

It's too much

Come to think of it, so does this one.

Love love love.
This would be the song I'd wanna walk down the aisle to.

While were at it, there is no piece of music as perfect as this. I used to play on repeat when I couldn't sleep.

OH LANA

Last Friday I ventured out in my friend Kirra's Jeffrey Campbell Lana's.
I was apprehensive at first as I am incredibly clumsy and could see a broken leg in my future! But they were great. Loved being so tall! Shame the people of QLD did not appreciate them as I suspect someone in Sydney would. And also shame my pasty legs blend into the shoe making me look like some odd hoofed yeti! Time to work out and get a tan I think!

Ladies Night

I just got back from a girl's weekend up the Gold Coast in Queensland.
It was a very messy weekend. Lots of drinks were had. Too many in fact!
We frequented a number of clubs and bars but surprisingly the most fun was had in our hotel room where we filmed us dancing to songs on my Macbook. These movies will keep us entertained for years to come no doubt. I often think of them and can't help but laugh, something quite embarassing when I am actually in a lecture about children's mathematics- not a hilarious subject! We will treasure these especially with a number of my dear friends moving abroad next year :(.
Here are some shots from our videos.

SHOES. OH MY GOD SHOES.

I purchased these shoes, two Jeffrey Campbell Lita lookalikes and a pair of glitter wedges on Gojane.com like 3 weeks ago and every day I wait in anticipation for their arrival. God I wish they would hurry up!!! I would be so much happier doing all these blasted assignments if they were on my feet!

I wonder how long until replica's of Lady Gaga's penis shoes hit ebay?

God Bless America

I have been thinking a bit lately, about the American flag print trend.
I would have to be blind and living under a rock if I was going to say I had just noticed it. As it has be on the uprise for quite some time.
I ain't gonna lie either, I happen to have American flag shorts, jeans and top and if my savings were not diminishing rapidly with every passing day I would love to get myself the flag print Jeffrey Campbell Lita's.

I though I would work the flag at Supafest back in April. I initially purchased the top for Halloween last year as I was planning on dressing up as Lady Gaga in her 'Telephone' music video.

Now what I have been thinking about, is how the American flag print comes across so hip and fashionable, whereas I cannot imagine the Australian flag having as much fashionista appeal.

Don't get me wrong, I am as patriotic as the next person, but to me the Australian flag print is something we all sport on Australia Day at a BBQ with our thongs (flip flops) and our beer. If I saw some girl at a club trying to work some Aussie flag leggings, i'd think she looked like an athlete training for the olympics or something. Hmmmmm.

But hey, if Jeffrey Campbell made Australian flag Lita's I'm sure they would be fierce as hell and I'd want 10 pairs.

Hypothetically Speaking.

Now I have been thinking a lot about my new years camping festivities at the Peats Ridge Music Festival. As I have said earlier it is a hippy festival with a great mix of art, music, organic food (oh my god the food! Amazing) and information about creating a sustainable future. What more can you want, have an amazing few days with your friends frolicking around eating gozleme and drinking smuggled in hooch with your conscious being cleared knowing that you are ultimately helping save nature. At least that is what I tell myself.  Also, I watched the Woodstock documentary for the first time when I was 12 and since then I have longed for hedonistic adventures like that, and this is the closest I can get, for now.

Now this year hopefully I can rustle up a few more amigos to come with, to join my beautiful Peats family that I met last year so I can celebrate with them before heading off to what will be both the hardest and hopefully most rewarding escapade of my life- to Kenya. More on that later, but yeah, I have been checking the festivals website quite regularly seeing when they will announce acts.  Usually it is a lot of local Australian acts, some DJS and a hell of a lot of awesome acoustic sets to go along with the constant sound of bongos playing at every hour of the night in the campsites.

I thought while I waited I would ponder my hypothetical dream line-up.

Now obviously if it was dream list, obviously The Beatles would be the headliners. They are my absolute favorite, and I am actually sad that kids these days may not be able to experience them, thus why I will teach my class when I am a full time teacher Beatles songs for choir. I mean I love them so much, I lost my shit at another festival I graced where they had a Beatles tribute band.

But realistically my hypothetical list consists of acts of recent times that I think would fit fantastically within the ambience and atmosphere of the festival.

Devendra Banhart.
Although I do not like sharing him. So sharing hime with 1000s of festival goers would be difficult, I mean sharing him with the tiny audience at the Metro last month was hard enough, I nearly had to smack some bitches calling out to him and making eyes. Whores.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s.
I absolutely adore their folky ditties. ‘Home’, ‘Janglin’, ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ and even ‘Carries on’ are just asking for peaceful sways and jubilant joining’s, in with the chorus of there hits.

The Polyphonic Spree.
Now like Devendra I have seen these guys before when I was 16 and it was awesome. The giant choir of Technicolor smocks singing songs of such positive melodies would definitely go down a treat.

 Ben Lee.
Another one that I have had the joy of seeing, Ben Lee is the quintessential Australian musical gem. His songs are not only heartfelt and raw, but incredibly catchy. He is just adorable. I just want to hug him. Then make him and his wife adopt me.

Florence +The Machine.
I have also seen this glorious woman live in concert and afterwards announced to the world if Florence Welch started a cult I would gladly leave my studies, job and regular life to join her. She is mesmerizing. I saw a video of her singing Cosmic Love at a UK festival, in front of tens of thousands of folks and it was pouring rain and she was out there amongst the raindrops and just bringing the house down. Ahhh she is just fab.

Lisa Mitchell
Now she wouldn’t be good for the main stage but I think she would do fantastically in one of the smaller acoustic tents. As did her other idol alum Matt Corby last year. I really love love love her song ‘Incomplete Lullaby’ so I would really dig hearing it live.

Now those are the realistic (well kinda) choices on my dream team line up.
Now for some not so realistic.

Smashing Pumpkins.
Although they would fit in well I think, good old Billy Corgan is a bit of a douche. Don’t get me wrong, I idolize the bloke, but he hardly ever plays the hits from the 90’s like my personal favorites ‘Luna’, ‘1979’, ‘Mayonnaise’  or even ‘Disarm’ and talks back and gets mouthy with the crowd so I can not imagine it going smoothly.

Hanson.
I would just love to ring in the year 2012 hearing my first favourite band play ‘MMMBop’. I would also like to throw my undies on stage at Taylor.

Snoop Dogg.
I just love him. Well not really. Something about his undeniable sleaze is in fact undeniable.

Fleetwood Mac.
Another vintage love of mine.

Lady Gaga.
Another one I’m secretly fond of.

Coolio.
So I could run on stage and rap to ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ with him, the last time I could actually sing ‘I’m 23 now….’ And it be the truth.

Dire Straits.
Just to have them serenade me personally with ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Bruce Springsteen.
Just to have him sing  ‘Dancing in the Dark’ and pick me out of the crowd like I was Courtney Cox.

Cher.
Just because she is Cher!

And a few more posthumous appearances from
Of course, The Beatles
Elvis
Johnny Cash and June Carter
Bob Marley
Nirvana
Janis Joplin
Jimmi Hendrix

Thank You and GOODNIGHT

xx
